LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

Statewide Influence - Regional Impact - Municipal Focus

Minooka believes in the old saying there is strength in numbers, but even more so… in the municipal collective good that the Metro West fosters.

Rick Offerman
President, Village of Minooka

For a small community it can be difficult to understand and navigate the State level political atmosphere. With the help of Metro West we know that the interests of the Village of Minooka and our neighbors are understood and advocated for locally and down in Springfield. Thank you Metro West for providing the opportunity to come together regionally and work together to face issues that affect us all.

Jack Guldenbecker
Comm. Development Officer, Minooka

The Metro West Council of Government has provided a reliable conduit of communication between mayors, managers and legislators for almost two decades that has proven to be exceptional. My participation in Metro West has made me a better mayor.

Dave Kaptain
Mayor, City of Elgin

Engagement with our elected officials at the County, State and Federal level is paramount. Metro West Council of Government helps articulate our interests, advance our objectives and achieve the results necessary to better steward our communities and serve our residents and businesses.

Kevin Burns
Mayor, City of Geneva

After being elected as Algonquin's Village President, I felt the need to get more acquainted with the Kane County portion of the village-citizens, neighboring mayors, state and federal elected officials. Joining MWCOG has been a godsend. I've met and network with mayors and other elected officials from the entire county. These networking events help create relationships that enable me to do a better job at home. We gather common concerns, such as LDGF, mass transportation, the Safety Act costs, lead service line replacement costs, etc. that need the help of State legislation. As a group, we go to Springfield to meet with our elected officials down there, working together, to come to solutions that help all constituents. You won't go wrong joining MWCOG! It's a great group of people trying to make this state a better place!

Debby Sosine
Village of Algonquin

As Mayor of Elburn, I’ve seen firsthand how invaluable our membership in the MetroWest Council of Governments is. By collaborating with neighboring communities, we amplify our voice on critical regional issues, share resources, and exchange innovative ideas that strengthen our municipalities. Metro West gives us access to expertise, advocacy, and partnerships that help us better serve our residents and plan for a brighter future.

Jeff Walter
President, Village of Elburn

The Metro West staff, through their partnership program, has provided us with access to resources, networks and provided opportunities to form and build relationships. The revised website and the creation of the “networking nights” has provided unprecedented opportunities to network with the Metro West communities.

Gordon Smith
Government Affairs Manager, Robinson Engineering

EEI has been part of the Metro West business partner program from the outset. It has been a huge benefit for our firm. The program affords us unfettered access to key local and regional decision-makers. We get timely updates on relevant legislative developments and programs. We are participating in Metro West initiatives with the State agencies that are benefiting our clients and the region. Metro West is a forward-thinking organization with great leadership. The business partner program is truly a collaborative experience.
