MWCOG in Springfield
Last week, a delegation of municipal members, consultants, lobbyists and staff spent two days at our state Capitol. There they met with Speaker Welch, President Harmon and Leaders McCombie and Curran. The focus of talks was on the erosion of local control, housing, solar, farms and LGDF. State Treasurer Frerichs spoke regarding programs available to bolster local efforts. The group also engaged in productive conversations with staff from IDOT and the IEPA.
Additionally, Metro West had the opportunity testify before the Cities and Villages Committee regarding our business licensing bill, HB4921.
Member communities in attendance included: Algonquin, Batavia, Elgin, Hampshire, Huntley, Lily Lake, Montgomery, Oswego, Sleepy Hollow, St. Charles and Sugar Grove.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and contribute to this important example of Leadership in Action!
